R. v.  R. - Not Guilty; No Criminal Record
 

R was charged with assault and mischief. At trial, Matthew W. James cross-examined the eyewitnesses and complainant, severely undermining the credibility and reliability of their evidence. As a result, R was found not guilty of all charges.

R. v. E. - Charges Dropped

E was charged with sexual assault and breaking and entering. After persistent advocacy with Crown Counsel on the weaknesses of the complainant's evidence, both charges were dropped.

R. v. K. - Resolved; No Criminal Record

K was charged with assault. K informed Matthew W. James that if he received a criminal record, he would lose his employment. After determined negotiations with Crown Counsel, Mr. James got Crown to agree to a conditional discharge. K received no criminal record, and maintained their employment.

R. v. A. - Not Guilty; No Criminal Record

A was charged with driving while prohibited and being in breach of his probation order for possessing alcohol. Matthew W. James set the matter down for the first available trial date. At trial, Matthew W. James argued a novel legal argument, resulting in A being acquitted of all charges.

National Parole Board v. L. - Released on Parole

L was in custody on a 7 year sentence and was seeking Parole. After preparing written submissions and advocating for L at their Parole Hearing, Matthew W. James was able to demonstrate that L did not pose an undue risk to the public. L was granted Parole.

R. v. P. - Charges Dropped; No Criminal Record

P was charged with breaking and entering a dwelling house. After extensive legal research, Matthew W. James demonstrated that the residence should not be defined as a dwelling house, resulting in all charges being dropped.

R. v. M. - Charges Dropped; No Criminal Record

M was charged with assault of a police officer and domestic assault. Matthew W. James engaged in extensive resolution conversations with Crown Counsel, resulting in the domestic assault charges being dropped and the assault of a police officer being resolved without a criminal record.

R. v. L. - No Driving Prohibition Imposed

L was charged with driving while prohibited and had an extensive driving record. After working closely with L, Matthew W. James was able to persuade Crown Counsel not to impose a driving prohibition. L was able to keep their driver's license.
